Black Tea vs Milk Tea, Which is Healthy?

Tea with milk is the perfect taste for many

Tea is a beverage that is largely consumed worldwide after water.

Some people refer tea as a drug at some point. For instance, if you are a frequent drinker and miss it, obviously headache will follow you.

People have different taste and this is no exception. There are those who cannot try tea without milk and vice versa.

Although, it is mostly consumed with milk, there are recent investigations on the difference in health perspective of black tea and milk tea.

Traditionally, tea has been consumed and has various health benefits to the body. Some of the compound of the beverage include: antioxidants and vitamins.

Black tea enhances reducing weight. It has compound called Thearugubin that reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the stomach and the intestine.

Researcher concludes black is better

These active health ingredients help the body control blood sugar levels, prevent heart disease and reduce damages to body cells. Tea is associated with stronger immune function and proper prevention of cells damage.

The numbers of people who drink tea with milk are relatively bigger than those who take black tea worldwide.

Researchers have arrived at a shocking conclusion that adding milk to tea have been found to reduce the healthy benefit of the commonly consumed beverage.

Dr Devajit Borthakur, a scientist the Tea Research Association, in Jorhat, India, said: "When tea is taken with milk, theaflavins and thearubigins form complexes with the milk protein, which causes them to precipitate, The Telegraph online reports.

"It means that we don't get the health benefit from these compounds nor from milk protein. Therefore, it is always advised to take tea without milk."

Research conducted at Fifth International Scientific Symposium on Tea and Health reveals that protein in milk reduces the level of absorption of flavonols found in black tea into the body.

So, the argument is that, casein found in milk, reduces the healthy impact of the flavonols to be absorbed faster in the body.

The question of which tea is better is a complicated because some research cannot verify if surely milk can have negative impact on the tea.

The best and alternate way can be add lemon to tea and health-wise, it produces the best result.
